Can we play FLYBALL?
We find that most dogs require good recall off leash, some ball drive, and a friendly disposition around other dogs to be successful in our program. For most students and handlers, it takes at least 6 months to gain the confidence, skill and drive to play flyball. Some take shorter and some take longer. But, we never give up if you don’t! We must sustain a safe space for all. We do not provide basic obedience training or behavioral assessments. We do want you and your dog to succeed in fun sports. Sometimes, flyball is not always the best answer for all dogs. So,
Step 1) Tell us you want a FLYBALL evaluation at no charge in order to determine if you and your dog would be happy playing this athletic sport. Our evaluations are conducted at 7:00pm on any practice/lessons night.
Step 2) If you passed your evaluation, you are ready for FLYBALL lessons! Your evaluation time is free, but to stay for the remainder of the lesson on that same night is $20.
Step 3) If you want to continue training in the weeks that follow please purchase our 4-lesson punch-card here. Your card never expires. Flyball is taught open-ability style. Dogs of many different levels learn together.
We accept all dogs of all speeds and breeds, abilities and disabilities. That goes for the humans too!
Can we play AGILITY?
Step 1) Tell us you are coming by registering and paying for Agility class here. They are 4-lesson punchcards. Agility is taught in levels and you’ll be with dogs with similar abilities.
Agility evaluations are not necessary prior to class registration. You and your Dog will be evaluated during your fist night and refunded if there is a significant reason why agility won’t be a good fit.
**NOT READY FOR TEAM SPORTS WITH OTHER DOGS: We must sustain a safe space for all. We do not provide basic obedience training or behavioral assessments. We do want you and your dog to succeed in fun sports. Sometimes, flyball or agility is not always the best answer for all dogs. And sometimes it’s just that group settings aren’t working. Feel free to reach out to us for a referral if this sounds like you:
“I’d like to work on reducing my dog’s fear reactions” = No, your pooch may not be ready for the dynamics of flyball and agility yet.
“I’d like my dog to become more socialized” = No, your pooch may not be ready for the dynamics of flyball and agility yet.
“My dog requires a soft muzzle or metal collar” = No, your pooch may not be ready for the dynamics of flyball and agility yet.
“My dog cannot be crated” = Maybe. Please work on this one. Your participation without your dog in hand is required in flyball.
DIRECTIONS and INSTRUCTIONS FOR FINDING US
It is VERY dark in the park. Follow signs to Saint Edwards State Park (also Bastyr University). Keep to the right at the fork, following the Basketball signs and park signs. You do not need a Discover pass. We will give you a temporary.
Come all the way past the gates and up to the parking lot with the big monastery building. Everything is going to look closed, but our ten or so cars will be in the lot. I have a dark blue truck and the Gym is on the right. Use the side door! 🙂
My phone is never on at practice, so my apologies in advance if you get lost
